Calgary, AB – Nik Cooper* scored a hat-trick and added two assists to fuel the IceCats to a 12-3 thrashing over the Hopewell Hurricanes at George Blundun on Saturday.

Capping off the scoring for the IceCats was Reggie Lang* with a hat-trick, Kevan Sinclair* and Darren Machenko*, John Bell*, Mark Sproxton*, Eric Charron* and Doug Howland* each tallying single markers. Sinclair* and Corey Dahl* each added three assists, Cooper*, Lang* and Vance Alexander* each added two assists. Goaltender Darryl Leray* picked up the win for the IceCats giving up three goals.

Sniping for the Hopewell Hurricanes was Brad Slomp, Tony Wyllie and Ash Johnson contributing with a goal each. Goaltender Steve Tolhurst surrendered 12 goals in the loss for the Hopewell Hurricanes.

With the win, the IceCats improve to 1-0-0-0 while the Hopewell Hurricanes fall to 0-1-0-0.
