Pearce* nets hat-trick, Slashers whip Tailgaters
Calgary, AB – Josh Pearce* scored a hat-trick to guide the Slashers to a 10-1 throttling over the Tailgaters at Optimist on Saturday.
Rounding out the scoring for the Slashers was Kyle Mack* and Scott Sangster with a pair of goals each and Mike Belanger*, Kevin Phillips* and Brad Kingsmith* each adding single tallies. Chris Roa-Yaremkowycz* added five assists, Dave Foss*, Ryan Mawhinney* and Steve Fodchuk* each added two assists. Goaltender Sean Garvey* picked up the win for the Slashers holding the Tailgaters to a single goal.
Scoring the single strike for the Tailgaters was and Trevor Chown, his first of the playoffs. Goaltender Todd Bettison* surrendered 10 goals in the loss for the Tailgaters.
With the win, the Slashers improve to 1-1-0-0 while the Tailgaters fall to 2-2-0-0.
