Calgary, AB – Steve Turvey scored his second goal of the season with 2:51 remaining in the first period and James Matheson scored a goal and added an assist to help fuel the Pirates to a 5-4 win over the Hopewell Hurricanes at Southland on Monday.

Rounding out the scoring for the Pirates was Scott McDonald, Mike Davis, Gary Yamada chipping in with a goal each. Brent Plume added three assists and Ken Muis added two assists. Goaltender Rick Windle picked up the win for the Pirates giving up four goals.

Striking for the Hopewell Hurricanes was Andy Keats, Lane Tamagi, Jeff Snyder and Martin Carter with a goal each. Preston Yachimec added four assists. Goaltender Mark Flath surrendered 0 goals in the loss for the Hopewell Hurricanes.

With the win, the Pirates improve to 1-2-1-0 while the Hopewell Hurricanes fall to 0-4-0-0.
