Chappell* nets hat-trick, Da Byes rally to vanquish Chiefs
Calgary, AB – Deon Chappell* scored a hat-trick and added an assist as the Da Byes erased a three-goal deficit and extended their winning streak to nine games with a 9-7 win over the Chiefs at Norma Bush on Saturday.
Also scoring for the Da Byes was Kevin Draper* with two goals, Glenn Saunders* and Corey Young*, Chris Avery* and Dustin Jones* each adding a goal. Justin Furlong* added three assists, Saunders* and Geoff Moggy* each added two assists. Goaltender Doug Lavers* picked up the win for the Da Byes giving up 0 goals.
Lighting the lamp for the Chiefs was Darren McCutcheon* with four strikes, Dave Wirsta* with two goals and Bruce Gillis* with a single tally. Gillis* added two assists. Goaltender Scott Ellard surrendered 0 goals in the loss for the Chiefs.
The Chiefs jumped out to a 5-2 lead when Wirsta* scored his fifth of the season with 3:10 left in the first period but Chappell* responded for the Da Byes with his seventh of the season to start the rally.
With the win, the Da Byes improve to 10-2-1-0 while the Chiefs fall to 6-6-1-0.
