Calgary, AB – Andy Keats scored two goals and added two assists to lift the Hopewell Hurricanes erased a three-goal deficit and to a 9-5 clobbering over the Melrose at Optimist on Sunday.

Capping off the scoring for the Hopewell Hurricanes was Doug Pickell and Aaron Cowley and Paul Taylor with a pair of goals each and Preston Yachimec with a single tally. Brent McClocklin added four assists, Brent Snyder added three assists, Cowley, Pickell, Keats and Stacy Mathieson each added two assists. Goaltender Brian Thevenot picked up the win for the Hopewell Hurricanes giving up five goals.

Sniping for the Melrose was Simon DiMarzo with two goals and Chris Trudel, Mike Hill and Neelan Edbom contributing with a goal each. DiMarzo added two assists. Goaltender Quinn Morettin surrendered 0 goals in the loss for the Melrose.

The Hopewell Hurricanes jumped out to a 9-5 lead when Cowley scored his 18th of the season with 0:10 left in the third period but Hill responded for the Melrose with his seventh of the season to start the rally.

With the win, the Hopewell Hurricanes improve to 8-8-2-0 while the Melrose fall to 5-13-0-0.
