Smith nets hat-trick, Buffaloes comeback to overwhelm Rangers

Calgary, AB – TJ Smith scored a hat-trick and added an assist to fuel the Buffaloes erased a three-goal deficit and to a 10-5 thrashing over the Rangers at Optimist on Saturday.

Capping off the scoring for the Buffaloes was Everett Nemeth with a hat-trick, Derek Bandstra with two goals, John Page and Brodie Lingard each tallying single markers. Page added four assists, Dylan Ackerman and Robyn Carson each added three assists, Bandstra and Ray Drake each added two assists. Goaltender Jon Kalkman picked up the win for the Buffaloes giving up five goals.

The victory extinguished the Buffaloes' six-game losing streak.

Sniping for the Rangers was Petr Prochazka, Dylan Murray, Xavier Morin, Gregory Beller and Dominic Houle contributing with a goal each. Prochazka, Lucas Prochazka and Jeff Jamieson each added two assists. Goaltender Sean McKay surrendered 10 goals in the loss for the Rangers.

The Buffaloes jumped out to a 10-5 lead when Smith scored his 23rd of the season with 9:05 left in the third period but Morin responded for the Rangers with his eighth of the season to start the rally.

With the win, the Buffaloes improve to 6-17-2-0 while the Rangers fall to 14-7-4-0.
