Calgary, AB – Joel Merkosky scored a hat-trick and added an assist to help bring the Mustangs to an 8-5 triumph over the Smokin' Guns at Optimist on Sunday.

Completing the scoring for for the Mustangs was Braydon Hart with two goals, Tyson Trail and Brent Phelps and Denis Blaquiere chipping in with singles. Trail and BJ Gurba each added three assists, Hart, Phelps and Blaquiere each added two assists. Goaltender JF Voyer picked up the victory for the Mustangs giving up five goals.

Finding the back of the net for the Smokin' Guns was Mike Podwalski with two goals and Kyle Thompson, Chris Goodall and Jeremy Broughton chipping in with a goal each. Joel Manson added three assists and Karl Mendes added two assists. Goaltender James McGivern surrendered eight goals in the loss for the Smokin' Guns.

With the victory, the Mustangs improve to 7-6-3-0 while the Smokin' Guns fall to 8-8-0-0.
