Varga* nets pair, Thunder comeback to defeat Calgary Storm
Calgary, AB – Greg Varga* scored two goals including his seventh goal of the season with 2:28 remaining in the third period and and added two assists as the Thunder erased a three-goal deficit and extended their winning streak to three games with a 6-5 conquest over the Calgary Storm at Optimist on Sunday.
Capping off the scoring for the Thunder was Dale Martin* and Dave Morris*, Aaron Yamniuk* and Cory Fell* contributing with a goal each. Allan Bianchini*. Goaltender Leo Thoms* picked up the win for the Thunder giving up five goals.
Sniping for the Calgary Storm was Chris Mele*, Ryan Roulston*, Dave Scott*, Mike Taillon* and Kevin Scott* each tallying single markers. Mele* added two assists. Goaltender Glenn Black* surrendered 0 goals in the loss for the Calgary Storm.
The Calgary Storm jumped out to a 4-1 lead when Roulston* scored his sixth of the season with 13:32 left in the second period but Martin* responded for the Thunder with his third of the season to start the rally.
With the win, the Thunder improve to 6-3-0-0 while the Calgary Storm fall to 4-4-1-0.
